Trapeze Group is an international company with its headquarter based in Canada.
“Trapeze provides intelligent transport systems and software solutions for the public transport sector”.
My role is primarily the “Web Designer/Developer” in the organization.
I was in charge of coordinating the design and development team (which I am a part of) in order to redesign the website from a legacy version.
During production, the procedure was improved by implementing build / preproduction tools like node, LESS(then eventually SASS), and gulp to automate tasks and improve performance. The website was built on top of the ExpressionEngine CMS. Another intent is that the website has to be coded in such a way that it’s easy to replicate. Since the company is international, the other European sub sites will have to inherit this new design. This carry-over should be manageable, extensible, and doable in a reasonable amount of time. At the same time, the code should allow for localization or region-specific changes (e.g.: language, specific layouts, different use-case or focus for the website)
Aside from coding the website, a big part of my responsibility is managing expectations, clients, plans, revisions, and timelines. Content is definitely an integral part and I constantly have to communicate with our colleagues in Germany and Switzerland.
Beyond this are mostly soft skills exemplified to properly work in teams, deal with decision-makers, collaborate with colleagues, etc. Please contact Dan for more details.
This redesign occurred from 2015-2017. Within this time period, we started with trapezegroup.eu, followed by trapezegroup.de, fr.trapezegroup.com, then last but not the least trapezegroup.com.au . Each website is owned and managed by the individual regional offices. Each website had to be treated separately and uniquely. Each website allowed me to coordinate and collaborate with different people across continents.
